In order to meet your seasonal hiring needs, summer J-1 Work and Travel participants are typically available from May through October. You are welcome to attend our free Greenheart Exchange hiring events to fill your summer season positions.
Below is a general overview of the timelines you can expect when hiring for the summer season, followed by a list of our international job fairs, and virtual job fairs for summer seasonal hiring.
Travel to Harbin and Changchun, China, this December to meet face to face with future Summer Work and Travel participants. Sit back with some herbal tea, Wang Laoji, and listen as Mandarin is spoken and the transportation hustle and bustle happens around you. Chinese participants are available later in the summer season, typically arriving June 1, 2017 and departing on September 15th, 2017.Dates: December 9, 2016 - December 15, 2016
Visit “the City of Angels” as you travel to Bangkok, Thailand, for an International Job Fair. Become familiar with the respectful greeting “Wai”, by observing locals as they put their palms together and bow slightly. Spend some time at the Grand Palace, home of 18th century kings, and learn more about the country’s main religion, Theravada Buddhism. Connect with Thai Summer Work and Travel participants, who typically arrive May 20-25, 2017 and depart August, 20, 2017.Dates: January 12, 2017 - January 16, 2017
Explore the beating heart of Accra, Ghana on Greenheart Exchange’s International Job Fair. With its festive backdrop of modern buildings and lively markets, Accra will delight your senses. Well-seasoned stews, sweet fried plantains, and the official language of English make for the perfect combination of familiar and exotic. Participants from Ghana typically arrive on June 5th and depart on September 5th.Dates: January 20, 2017 - January 23, 2017
Enjoy the picturesque city of Almaty on Greenheart Exchange’s international job fair. This charming city will accommodate your stay with quaint coffee shops, dazzling museums, and sophisticated restaurants. While in Almaty, don’t miss the opportunity to experience the breathtaking Zaili Alatau Mountains, adorned with deep-green flora and is beautiful year round. Learn about the national sport, Tejo, a team sport focused on launching projectiles at a target or surround yourself with some of the more than 1,754 bird species that inhabit the country. Participants from Columbia typically arrive between May 1, 2017 – June 6, 2017 and depart on August 30, 2017.Dates: February 11, 2017 - February 14, 2017
Travel to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with us. After completing your hiring needs, spend some time in the capital that prides itself as being the first European city in the New World. Increase your Spanish skills as you enjoy a traditional Lunch, nicknamed La Bandera (“The Flag”), which consists of rice, red beans, plantains, meat and salad. Participants from Dominican Republic are typically available to arrive between May 5-13, 2017 and depart between August 20-31, 2017.Dates: February 14, 2017 - February 17, 2017
While traveling in Jamaica, enjoy the traditional “Jerk” style meat dishes that is typical of Jamaican cuisine as well as the wide range of fruit served in many entrees and desserts. Though English is the national language of this tropical region, listen as you hear many Jamaicans speak Patois, a combination of English, African, Spanish and French languages. Participants from Jamaica typically arrive between May 20 – June 15, 2017 and depart on September 7, 2017.Dates: February 17, 2017 - February 20, 2017
Travel to Sofia, Bulgaria for a Greenheart Exchange International Job Fair. This 7,000 year old city is the second oldest city in Europe. Explore the more than 600 natural mineral springs or take advantage of Bulgarian forests that cover nearly one third of the land. Learn more about traditional culture as you observe Bulgarians expressing approval by shaking their heads instead of nodding. Participants from Bulgaria typically arrive between May 20 – June 5, 2017 and depart September 20, 2017.Dates: February 15, 2017 - February 18, 2017
Experience the culture of Jordan as you travel to Amman Jordan with Greenheart Exchange. Though it is known as a historical paradise, the capital Amman is experiencing a changeover from a sleepy village to a bustling metropolis. The city is also known to have biblical significance as it is believed that Moses is buried on Mount Nebo, about 30 miles out. While in Amman, try out Jordan’s specialty cuisine, mansaf, which is a delicious lamb and rice meal, typically eaten with one’s hands. Often referred to as the Phoenix City, Poland’s capital Warsaw, was once completely destroyed due to World War II. While in Poland, travel around the city and visit one of the world’s first public libraries which opened its doors in 1747. While trying some Polish cuisine, prepare to sit down around 2:00 PM for a 3 course meal, as this is when the main meal of the day is served. Learn more about a breakfast favorite, the bagel, which is believed to have been invented in Poland during the 16th century. Participants from Poland typically arrive between June 5-15, 2017 and depart September 25, 2017.Dates: March 6, 2017 - March 9, 2017
Travel to China with Greenheart Exchange. While in Wuhan, enjoy some time outdoors and visit the country’s largest urban lake, East Lake. While learning about Chinese culture, The Yellow Crane Tower is a site to be seen with inscriptions from famous poets and literati adorning the tower. Travel to Chengdu and spend some time with Giant Pandas at the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. While in the capital of China’s southwest Sichuan Province, take some time to learn about the deep history and culture of those living in the region. Spend some time exploring as you travel to China for Greenheart Exchange’s job fair. A visit to Guangzhou, China means a visit to Canton Tower. This well-known landmark is known for its unique design and offers a bird’s eye view of the city when you travel to the top. The Pearl River also serves as a city central point. Pack your bags and travel to Iasi and Bucharest, Romania! Spend some time exploring Bucharest, the country’s capital and the site of the massive parliament building. While learning about this new culture, enjoy some spiced-meat cabbage rolls and listen as the romance language, Romanian, is spoken around you. Participants from Romania typically arrive on June 15 and depart on September 30.Dates: March 22, 2017 - March 27, 2017

With the highest beer consumption per capita in the world, enjoy a world famous Czech pilsner after enjoying a traditional Czech meat dish. Participants from Czech Republic typically arrive on June 17, 2017 and depart September, 15, 2017.Dates: March 24, 2017 - March 27, 2017
