Cultural Outreach Assistant

    Within CCI Greenheart, the Work and Travel (WT) Department has J-1 designation by the U.S. Department of State to bring international university students to the United States on a cultural exchange program that allows them to work for a period of 8 weeks to 4 months. CCI Greenheart’s WT program is dedicated to extending the mission of cultural understanding, environmental consciousness and world peace by connecting enthusiastic international students and American Host Organizations. As the only non-profit green J-1 visa sponsor, we pride ourselves on providing a quality experience, while encouraging and enabling CCI GH staff, participants and Host Organizations to work together on projects that promote environmentalism and sustainability.

    As Cultural Outreach Assistant you will take enthusiastic initiative to maintain CCI Greenheart’s Work Programs as a leader in the industry by promoting all cultural initiatives for the department. Your primary focus will be to track monthly monitoring, assist creative initiatives for our participants, and assist in the implementation of the alumni initiative of Work Programs. Other job duties will be assigned based on time of season. Pending work performance, position may grow to include more responsibilities in the future.

    Some things you might do as the Cultural Outreach Assistant:

    Assist in generating qualified host organizations leads for Work & Travel recruitment, including:

    • Create corporate profiles for large host organizations leads (hiring 25+)
    • Enter qualified leads into the database (note: all leads should be tracked for follow up and yearly evaluation)
    • Ensure that qualified leads reflect variety, meet Department of State regulations and CCI Greenheart standards/expectations
    • Create a statistical analysis of the host organizations approved in the past year
    • Take initiatives with new means of lead generation

    Assist in weekly recruitment meetings

    • Assist in tracking recruitment goals

    Outreach Initiatives
    – Serve as support for Work Programs on participant outreach and alumni efforts, including:

    • Ensure participants’ cultural component is met. Include: Follow up with participants on their cultural check-ins, contact cultural offenders, offer assistance to participants experiencing culture shock.
    • Coordinate, review and edit (including Journeys) submissions for all social media platforms on a daily basis
    • Support participant outreach communication (i.e., through newsletters, GHC, handbooks).
    • Assist on updates on cultural resources provided to participants (i.e. cultural flyers).
    • Coordinate quick and efficient participant tracking and responses.

    Assist with the planning of the department’s various outreach programs, including:

    • Greenheart Club (assist and encourage participants to find volunteer opportunities)
    • Ambassador Scholarship program (support for Cultural Outreach Coordinator and participants while on their program).
    • Greenheart Global Leaders Conference (assist in research, logistics and screening of potential leaders).
    • Going Greenheart Tours (assist in research and planning of Service Projects. Coordinate the materials and the logistics needed for the events, and communicate the information to participants).

    Think outside the box to grow alumni presence for Work Programs, and to facilitate long lasting connections for participant and for Greenheart, as a whole, including:

    • Engaging all enrollments to contribute to the GHC’s mission.
    • Participant correspondence and material development.
    • Encourage and inspire participants and other stakeholders to volunteer and enter their hours.
    • Assist in creating an updated Greenheart Club portal to serve the Alumni Program.
    • Assist in fundraising and alumni presentations at major conferences and internal presentations for Greenheart staff.
    • Coordinate, collate and track impact measurement results to demonstrate how and why CCI Greenheart’s outreach efforts are important to our stakeholders.

    Greenheart Club Part-Time Program Assistant

    Greenheart International is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1985 with national headquarters in Chicago, IL. Greenheart International connects people and planet to create global leaders through cultural exchange, personal development, environmentalism, volunteer service and fair-trade.     Position will include the following responsibilities:

    • Develop editorial calendar for Greenheart Club blog as well as write blogs on volunteerism, service learning, and their benefits. Research and learn best practices from Marketing team on how to better implement multimedia into blogs as well as stay abreast of trends

    Work and Travel Housing Assistant

  • The Work and Travel (WT) Department is looking to hire a full time Housing Assistant to serve as the internal expert on all housing related items for international university students participating in the Work and Travel program.

    Within CCI Greenheart, the Work and Travel Department has J-1 designation by the U.S. Department of State to bring international university students to the United States on a cultural exchange program that allows them to work for a period of eight weeks to four months. CCI Greenheart’s WT program is dedicated to extending the mission of cultural understanding, environmental consciousness and world peace by connecting enthusiastic international students and American Host Organizations. As the only environmentally conscious J-1 visa sponsor, we pride ourselves on providing a quality experience while encouraging and enabling CCI Greenheart staff, participants, and Host Organizations to work together on projects that promote environmentalism and sustainability.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Manage the housing placements of international university students participating in the J-1 Summer Work Travel program
    • Serve as the internal expert on local housing codes
    • Collect and vet housing leads for the Host Organizations across the United States, to be sure it meets local codes
    • Work with the Cultural Outreach team to gather leads from and communicate with community organizations regarding collection of and verifying housing leads
    • Ensure that SWT participants secure housing before they come to the USA
    • Research transportation options
    • Ensure our compliance with SEVIS housing address standards
    • Manage SEVIS housing validation processing
    • Collect leads from staff from job offers weekly and follow up on these leads (ask for more information from partners, call the leads provided, etc.)
    • Analyze Housing Reports (e.g., DOS Report) to identify patterns and generate housing leads
    • Maintain a detailed housing leads document and offer housing solutions to program participants
    • Track and monitor housing issues throughout the year
    • Other duties as assigned

    Regional Manager Position – J-1 High School Program

    Type of Position: Part-time salary employee
    Hours: 20+ hours/week

    CCI Greenheart is seeking individuals with previous work experience as a, Area Coordinator, Regional Manager/Director or similar level within a cultural exchange organization. Applicants without prior experience in the industry will not be considered. (If that is the case, please consider CCI Greenheart’s independent contractor Local Coordinator position.) CCI Greenheart has J-1 visa designation by the U.S. Department of State to bring international high school students to the United States through our High School Programs, to live with volunteer host families. The Regional Manager position is a crucial leadership position within the High School Programs department, by supervising a team of 10-20 Local Coordinators, and 25-50+ exchange students every year.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Build and supervise a team of Local Coordinators (independent contractors) to facilitate the placing of exchange students with volunteer host families, who will attend high school for a semester or full academic year.
    • Lead the regional team of field staff to ensure timely placement of all students assigned to the region, and that the proper documentation for the placement has been supplied through CCI Greenheart’s database.
    • Create a development plan for the region, which includes a regional training meeting for LCs.
    • Maintain compliance with Department of State regulations by providing the necessary documentation via the database for all students placed in the region (proper host families, host family information forms and school permission forms, contact logs, etc)
    • Work closely with the staff in the Chicago office through regular email, phone, and skype communication.

    Skills:

    • Must have previous experience working with a cultural exchange organization (J-1 international high school students)

    Summer Group Coordinator – Short-term Groups and Homestays

    ESL Student Recruiter – Greenheart English Camp

    Greenheart English Camp is a three week ESL summer camp designed exclusively for international teenagers with at least 2 years of English experience. Recruiters refer and provide initial screening to potential applicants and can receive a cash incentive for each student who is accepted and attends the program.
