H2B Program Information for Sending Partners
What Types of Jobs Can Participants Choose From?
The H2B visa is designed to help seasonal US employers to fill their temporary work need. Most of the jobs that are available are within the hospitality industry, i.e. Housekeepers, Landscape Workers, Cashiers, Dining Room Attendants, Fast Food Workers, Hotel Desk Clerks, Laundry Attendants, Dishwashers, Lifeguards, Parking Attendants, Ticket takers, Ride Operators, Waiters, Ski Lift Operators, Seafood Processors, etc. The jobs typically last between 4-10 months with a minimum of 30 hours of work per week. CCI and our cooperating overseas sending partners do our best to fit you with the right employer! It is important to note that the participant must work exclusively for their visa sponsoring employer.
Where Will Participants Live?
CCI asks that our H2B employers either provide or source affordable housing options to their participants. There are various types of housing possibilities. Participants could be living in houses, apartments, university style dormitories, etc. The housing should cost the participant no more than 30% of their anticipated monthly income. Usually international workers will live together which creates a lively environment and creates the opportunity to make new friends!
What Costs Will the Participant Have to Absorb?
H2B international participants should expect to pay the program fees as determined by the average rate of the program in their country of origin. They are responsible for the airfare to the US, domestic travel, deposit fee and rent for the first month, food. It is recommended that H2B participants have at least $600 in traveler’s checks to cover the initial expenses that could arise upon arrival in the US (before the first paycheck is issued).
