Program Overview

The H2B visa program helps US employers to fulfill seasonal and/or peakload staffing needs. H2B participants come to the US between 4 to 10 months (depending on the seasonal need of the employer) and employers are able to bring back the same eligible H2B participants year after year. Employers pay their H2B participants according to the prevailing wage for regular full-time employees in the same position (the prevailing wage is determined by the State Employment Agency in the employer’s state).

Length of program: Up to 10 months

Participant profile

18-35 year old people of varying skill backgrounds and experience and at least an intermediate level of English.

Types of Positions

Positions include but are not limited to: Housekeeper, Landscape Worker, Cashier, Dining Room Attendant, Fast Food Worker, Hotel Desk Clerk, Laundry Attendant, Dishwasher, Lifeguard, Parking Attendant, Ticket taker, Ride Operator, Waiter, Ski Lift Operator, Seafood Processor, etc.

Advantages

  • Helps fill seasonal/peakload staffing needs.
  • Participants are screened to provide the employer with the best match for specific job descriptions.
  • CCI works in conjunction with a dedicated and experienced law firm that helps to prepare and files the employer’s H2B application/petition and serves as the direct contact for the government agencies for which the employer’s application will be presented.
  • Employers may qualify for reimbursement of all filing and legal fees, should they agree to a minimum of 25 participants on one petition.
  • Create start and end dates according to the employer’s seasonal need.
  • Participants are only allowed to work for the employer who sponsors their visa. They cannot change jobs.
  • The employer may request participants to return for the following year(s) as long as the participant meets the requirements. When hiring returnee’s, the petition is not subject to the federal H2B visa cap.
  • Because H2B participants are able to stay for up to ten months, and can return to the employer for the subsequent seasons, this visa allows a bigger return on the training investment.

Anticipated Timeline

The employer should contact CCI 5 months prior to their anticipated start date.
