Internships in France (Ages 20+)

Intern_France_Content

Why not live and work in a leading European economy and hub of culture and style? Currently enrolled university students and recent grads can gain practical experience in one of several fields while deepening their understanding of French culture and business practices.

Fields of Interest
The most commonly requested fields of interest are:

• General Business
• Travel/Tourism
• Accounting/Finance
• Social Service

Other types of internships may be arranged upon request. Once you are accepted to the program, we will find a meaningful internship within the field you requested. Greenheart Travel cannot guarantee the undertaking of specific responsibilities, such as experience with particular computer programs or the chance to have input on a certain type of project. Our goal is to provide you with an internship relating to your field of choice where you will be able to assist with special projects and that will give you real-world, professional experience. You should also expect to perform some administrative tasks and general office work.

Accommodations and Meals
During this program, you will get the unique opportunity to live with a French family. Host families represent all walks of life, just like families from your home country. Your family may be a couple with or without children, a single parent, or a single person interested in other cultures. Greenheart Travel works together with our partner office in France to find the best match for you according to your unique profile and interests. Our partner office maintains a network of trained local coordinators who select, screen, and monitor host families to help make a placement that is appropriate for you.

Within each family you will experience a different dynamic, but they are all motivated by the idea of making cross-cultural friendships. They will be eager to learn about you and your culture and are excited to teach you about their own. Your host family placement will include half board (2 meals per day).

As an intern you can also choose to arrange your own housing, and we will deduct this from the cost of the program. If you choose this option, you are responsible for searching out and securing a place to stay for the duration of your program.

Location, Dates, and Duration
Interns may be placed throughout France, although most internships are located in the exciting city of Nantes. We do not place internship participants in Paris. Our main goal is seeking out a desirable internship where public transportation is accessible. Depending on the location of your internship, you should expect your commute to be anywhere from 20 minutes up to 1 hour.

You may choose when your internship begins and ends, making it convenient to fit with your individual schedule. However, we always ask that you start your internship on a Monday and end on a Friday, so that it coincides with the typical work week. This means that you should arrive to your host family's house on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday. Internships last from 1-3 months.

Social Life
Your host family will be a great source of information regarding local events, tasty restaurants and exciting nightlife. Depending on the location of your internship, there will be different things to do and see, so be prepared for a wide variety of activities.
Although some independent travel is okay, your internship will remain your first priority, and asking for time off is not permitted.

University Credit
Greenheart Travel does not give automatic credit for internships, and we cannot guarantee that your school will accept your internship for credit. You should discuss this with your adviser to find out what they require in order to receive any credit. We will do our best to provide you with the information you may need, but it is your responsibility gather any necessary materials.

Local Support
Interns should feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with their employers and local coordinators who will remain a source of support for the duration of your internship. Should a problem arise, the local coordinator and 24 hour emergency staff are always available to you.

Requirements
You must be at least 20 years of age and be able to commit at least 1 month. Ideal applicants will have at least 1 year of college credit that relates to their field of interest and experience working in a professional setting. Other desirable characteristics include: flexibility, punctuality, curiosity, motivation, dedication and a good sense of humor.
