Internships in Shanghai (Ages 20+)

As traditional meets modern, Shanghai is no longer just a financial and trade hub, it is now an internationally recognized city of design and home to one of the most unique skylines you'll ever see. Throughout your internship in Shanghai you will gain exclusive insight into your chosen field that could never be taught stateside.

Once you are accepted to the program, we will find a meaningful internship within the field you requested. Greenheart Travel cannot guarantee the undertaking of specific responsibilities, such as experience with particular computer programs or the chance to have input on a certain type of project. Our goal is to provide you with an internship relating to your field of choice where you will be able to assist with special projects and that will give you real-world, professional experience. You should also expect to perform some administrative tasks and general office work.

Accommodation and Meals
Accommodation and meals are not included in the program fee. Assistance with locating housing is provided and is included in the program fee. The following types of accommodations are available:

1. Homestay: Single room with a host family, with access to public transportation. Approximate cost is $100 USD per month and is paid upon arrival.
2. Shared student flat that is located near the city center. Approximate cost is $350-$450 USD per month.

Social life and Travel
Our partner office organizes social, cultural and networking events for interns in Shanghai. This is a great way to see the city and to meet many of the other international interns participating in the program.

Although some independent travel is okay, your internship will remain your first priority, and asking for time off is not permitted.

University Credit
Greenheart Travel does not give automatic credit for internships, and we cannot guarantee that your school will accept your internship for credit. You should discuss this with your adviser to find out what they require in order to receive any credit. We will do our best to provide you with the information you may need, but it is your responsibility gather any necessary materials.

Local Support
Interns should feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with their employers and local coordinators who will remain a source of support for the duration of your internship. Should a problem arise, the local coordinator and 24 hour emergency staff are always available to you.

Transportation and Travel Arrangements
Transportation to and from the airport is provided. A representative of our partner office in Shanghai will meet you at the airport upon arrival. Travel to/from the location of your internship is your responsibility. Your commute may require public transportation, and can range from 20 minutes to an hour.

Dates, Duration and Application Deadlines
Interns can arrive on any Sunday to start an internship on Monday at any time throughout the year.

A minimum commitment of 2 months is required. Applications must be received at least 12 weeks before your desired start date.

Requirements
Participants are not required to have skills in Mandarin, except for some placements. Interns must be at least 20 years of age at the start of the internship. Courses in Mandarin can be arranged for an additional fee.
