Meet the Special Projects Staff

Claudia Curran  Claudia Curran, Special Projects and Personnel Director
A summer abroad exchange to Afghanistan in the 1970’s provided Claudia with an indelible experience that would help lead her to the cultural exchange career path. A teach abroad opportunity in the Philippines during college, solidified her passion for travel and desire to help make a difference in the world. In 1995, Claudia began working at CCI in rural St. Charles part time while raising two active boys. Gradually, her time at CCI increased. Today, she lives in Chicago and loves to walk or bike to work along the beautiful lakefront. Being involved in a myriad of ever-changing special projects keeps life fun and exciting. Present duties include personnel director, conference coordinator, office rehab and move coordinator, and building management.
Joanna Flagler  Joanna Flagler, Marketing Communications Director
After working with the local community on a medical clinic in Costa Rica, Joanna was compelled to turn her experience into a career. She left her publishing job in New York City and received a Master's in International Education Management from the SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT. Joanna has facilitated exchange programs for students and professionals from Central Asia, Eastern Europe and Asia. She has studied in Mexico, the U.K. and South Africa, and is conversant in Spanish. As Marketing Communications Director, Joanna collaborates with all CCI departments on developing marketing plans and promotional materials to ensure consistent branding and messaging, as well as manages CCI's website and social media.
Krissy Koerner  Kristine Koerner, IT Support Manager
Kristine has an extensive background in Technical Support and Management. Starting out as a graphic designer, she later earned her MCSE, CCVP and VCP. Working throughout her career with Fortune 500 and smaller companies has allowed her to develop the skills needed to support the staff at CCI. A native of Chicago, she is thrilled to join the CCI family. When not fixing a computer issue, she enjoys time with her family and loves to garden, giggle and now looks forward to some international travel.
 
Jason Nusser  Jason Nusser, Adminstrative Coordinator
Jason holds a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Minnesota. Jason first became passionate about intercultural exchange while studying abroad in Australia. After completing his undergraduate degree, Jason served two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine. Jason is currently a M.A. candidate in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management at the SIT Graduate Institute. At CCI, Jason provides administrative support to our CEO, recruits new sending partners, and provides information on all of our programs and services to prospective partners. Jason enjoys spending his free time cooking, taking care of his house plants, exploring Chicago or planning his next adventure.
Martha Rauch  Martha Rauch, Executive Assistant
Martha began her journey with the CCI-Greenheart family as a volunteer at the Greenheart Shop and has also been a member of the Greenheart Transforms book club. She graduated with a BA in Recreation Administration from Eastern Illinois University. Her true interest is in humane education, which began as an intrinsic passion for educating others about animals and nature. This led her to facilitating recreation that educates people of all ages and eventually inspired her to join forces with CCI to create a more peaceful and sustainable world. As the Executive Assistant to the president, she hopes to create opportunities to inspire others to live a more sustainable and healthy life, while helping to develop new components of Greenheart Transforms. Martha enjoys hiking, playing with her cats, reading, and learning anything new.
 
Jude Rodriguez  Jude Rodriguez, Office Manager
Jude joined CCI in the fall of 2006 after working 18 years in the travel agency business. As Office Manager, Jude keeps CCI offices running smoothly and safely. Jude is also the "voice of CCI", as she answers the phones at CCI's National Office and greets all visitors. A native of Chicago, Jude loves exploring all the city has to offer.
Annan Shehadi  Annan Shehadi, Graphic Designer
Annan received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2008. After completing her undergraduate degree, she worked as a graphic designer for a non-profit specializing in environmental sustainability. With an interest in social justice, she wanted to partake in community work. She became an apprentice in the Public Allies Chicago service and leadership training organization where she was placed in the Little Village community and worked with a small group of other allies to create an infrastructure that provided education on gang violence and resources to alternatives. She is currently at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for an MA in Visual & Critical Studies with hopes to find different methods of bridging art, design, and community work. As CCI’s graphic designer, Annan creates both print and online promotional and graphic materials for all CCI & Greenheart departments. Annan’s visual interests include maps, screen-printing, and typography and when she is not a graphic designer or studying, she enjoys running, traveling, reading and keeping up with news and politics, particularly of the Middle East.
