Greenheart Travel Scholarships

The Environmental Service Learning Scholarship for Chicago Youth is for Chicago-area high school students between the ages of 15-18 who come from families that are economically disadvantaged. Students participate in a 10-day immersion program in Costa Rica that includes volunteer projects, environmental education classes and cultural activities.

Each year CCI-Greenheart Travel will grant two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to a qualified recipient in the High School Abroad Program who shows an exceptional appreciation for the cultural exchange experience, as well as a passion for capturing and sharing their story as a travel blogger. One of the scholarships will be awarded for fall departures, and one will be awarded for spring departures.
Deadlines:
July 9 is the scholarship deadline for 2012 Fall semester participants
Restrictions:
Applicants must be applying to participate in a semester-length (5-6 months) or academic year-length program and be prepared to be a weekly contributing travel blogger during their high school program.
Qualifications:
In addition to meeting the regular requirements for participation, and submitting a complete application, successful candidates for our travel blog scholarship must also submit one of the following: a written essay in an attached Word document, minimum 2 pages, a 2 minute video essay or a photo essay that describes the following:
• Why do you want to study abroad?
• What do you expect to gain from the experience?
• Why do you believe that you will be a successful participant in this program?
• How do you expect the experience to impact your future?
• What are 5 -7 topics that you plan on blogging about during your program?
• Why do you think it is important to share your experiences with others?
• How do you plan on documenting and sharing your stories with others? (ie writing, video, photos, illustrations, etc.)
A scholarship recipient will be selected based on the quality of their application and essay, writing, video or photography abilities, as well as how they plan to express their creativity and passion for sharing their study abroad experience with the travel community. Creativity and enthusiasm for cultural exchange are important. Applicants who are not awarded a scholarship, but who are otherwise qualified, will be welcome to be a featured travel blogger during their High School Abroad Program for the standard program fee.
High School Abroad Early Bird Discount
Apply early! High School applications received at least 7 months before departure date entitle you to a $300 discount of program fees! Deadlines: January 2 for Fall semester enrollment; June 1 for Spring Semester enrollment.
LIV Fund Scholarship
LIVFund has been designed for anyone who wants to learn, intern or volunteer [LIV] abroad in Latin America and is seeking financial assistance to offset program or living abroad expenses. We are proud to award two [2] scholarships per month in the amount of USD$500 to people studying, interning or volunteering abroad in the following 21 Latin American countries: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela. We believe that the exchange of cultures makes the world a better place, and we are working to spread this mission through the LIVFund Scholarship.
Amount: $500 USD
Criteria: The scholarship competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 interested in studying, interning or volunteering abroad in Latin America. Candidates coming to Latin America with an organized program, designing their own program or still waiting to be accepted to an abroad program are all eligible to apply. Students, interns and volunteers who are already abroad are also eligible to receive funding.

Teen Summer Programs/Language School and Homestay Scholarships

International Friends Foundation, Inc.
International Friends Foundation, Inc. is an organization dedicated to exposing today's youth to cultures around the world by funding scholarships to motivated students who wish to travel or study abroad. In 2012, they are awarding two scholarships to high school students.
Amount: $1,000 - $1,500 each
Criteria: These two scholoarships will go to highly motivated students who will use the money to travel overseas in the summer of 2012 through a cultural exchange organization. Our scholarship application opens January 1, 2012 and closes March 15, 2012. We will accept the first 200 applicants. To be eligible, applicants should be currently enrolled in a Georgia high school and have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA.

Volunteer Abroad Program Scholarships
Description: Each year, Greenheart Travel awards two scholarships in the amount of $250 each toward a Greenheart Volunteer Abroad participant who shows an exceptional appreciation for the cultural exchange experience, as well as a passion for capturing and sharing their story as a travel blogger.
Restrictions: Volunteers must be applying to participate in an individual Greenheart Travel Volunteer Abroad program and be prepared to be a weekly contributing travel blogger during their project (internet permitting), or submit 3 - 5 photo/video or written blog posts immediatly following their program.
Qualifications:

Host Family Circle Scholarships
Our American host families are deeply generous people who open their hearts and homes to international students and adults. We encourage host family members to expand their own cultural experience by taking advantage of the Host Family Circle Scholarships, a program that provides scholarships on Greenheart Travel Programs to host family members. All Center for Cultural Interchange host families can recieve 5% off any Greenheart Travel program fee.
