Environmental Service Learning Scholarship
Environmental Service Learning Scholarship: Full scholarship award
Deadline: Application process begins in late January 2013. Deadline: March 1, 2013
Details: The Environmental Service Learning Scholarship is for Chicago-area high school students between the ages of 15-18 who come from families that are economically disadvantaged. Students participate in a 10-day immersion program during July in Costa Rica that includes volunteer projects, environmental education classes and cultural activities.

High School Abroad Scholarships
Greenheart Travel High School Abroad Correspondent Scholarship:

High School Abroad Scholarship Application Requirements:
- Applicants must meet all China High School program guidelines
- Applicants must plan on studying beginning in the Fall of 2013, for a semester or academic year program
- Applicants must meet all scholarship requirements before, during and after their program to be awarded their scholarship reimbursement
- Applicants must be a member of the Greenheart Club during their program abroad and volunteer in local host community
- Applicants must acknowledge that upon acceptance, winners will be reimbursed throughout the program assuming scholarship winner meets requirements. See Scholarship Details for fund reimbursement schedule
- Applicants must acknowledge that they agree to be a reference for future Greenheart Travel participants hoping to study abroad in China
- Applicants must acknowledge that they will be a part of a Greenheart Travel virtual focus group at the end of 2013 (date TBD)
- Applicants can only apply to one Travel Correspondent Scholarship opportunity in 2013
Application Process:
In addition to meeting the regular program requirements outlined for the Austria and China high school abroad programs, scholarship applicants need to:
*In regards to the three requirements of the written essay, photo essay and video, we are looking for clarity and flow in our scholarship winner’s writing, as well as an ability to make the text interesting. Since this is a blogging scholarship it is important that our winner is able to express their observations and experiences in a way that is easy and interesting to read and share through social media. However, we don’t limit our blogs to just text, and photos and video are always an important part of the travel story.
The photo and video components are different from the written essay. The photo essay is generally 5 – 7 photos with captions and minimal text using images to tell a story or experience. The theme and submission details are outlined in the application. Use your creativity and let your personality shine through in the different mediums.
The video component is along the same lines. Your video must be of live footage, demonstrating your ability to film, edit and upload your submission. More than anything we are going for quality, creativity and interesting and informative pieces that keep our travel community wanting to follow your stories from abroad.

Photo and video attachments can be quite large, to ensure Greenheart Travel has received all of your scholarship submission requirements, please upload your video to youtube and provide a link to your published video. All applications that have not been received by April 1, 2013 will not be considered. No exceptions. If you are concerned that we have not received your application, please inquire.
Scholarship Details:
- Upon acceptance, $2,500 will automatically be deducted from the total program fee
- If the participant proves to be successful in completing the scholarship requirements outlined above, the remaining $1000 will be reimbursed throughout the program in pre-determined increments
- Academic Semester winners will be reimbursed $200 every month over the course of 5 months.
- Academic Year winners will be reimbursed $200 every other month, over the course of 10 months, beginning in October. The remaining $200 will be reimbursed in July
- Flights are not included in the scholarship
- All High School Austria and China program details apply to the scholarship program (insurance, meals, accommodations are all included)
- A scholarship recipient will be selected based on the quality of their application and essay, writing, video and photography abilities, as well as how they plan to express their creativity and passion for sharing their high school abroad experience with the travel community
Applicants who are not awarded a scholarship, but who are otherwise qualified, will be welcome to be a featured travel blogger during their High School Abroad Program for the standard program fee.

Teach Abroad Scholarship Application Requirements:
- Aplicants must meet all Thailand and Myanmar program guidelines
- Applicants must plan on teaching abroad in 2013
- Thailand applicants must participate on the May 2, or late October 2013 program start dates
- Myanmar (Burma) applicants must depart for their program anytime before Dec. 31, 2013
- Applicants must meet all scholarship requirements before, during and after their program to be awarded their scholarship reimbursement
- Applicants must be a member of the Greenheart Club during their program abroad and volunteer in local host community

Scholarship Details for Teach in Myanmar + TESOL Course:
- A $250 refundable deposit is required to participate in the scholarship program. This deposit will be returned to the recipient at the end of the program, if the participant successfully completes the scholarship requirements outlined above
- Participants will complete a one month TESOL course in Thailand, and then be placed in a one year contract in Myanmar. Participants must commit to the full one year contract
- Flights to and from Bangkok are NOT included in the scholarship; however, a flight from your Thailand TESOL course to Myanmar is included
- Participants will earn a monthly salary once they are placed in a teaching position
- All Teach in Myanmar + TESOL details apply to the scholarship program
- A scholarship recipient will be selected based on the quality of their application and essay, writing, video and photography abilities, as well as how they plan to express their creativity and passion for sharing their teach abroad experience with the travel community
Scholarship Details for Teach in Thailand:

CCI Greenheart Host Families
Host Family Circle Scholarship
Our American host families are deeply generous people who open their hearts and homes to international students and adults. We encourage host family members to expand their own cultural experience by taking advantage of the Host Family Circle Scholarships, a program that provides scholarships on Greenheart Travel Programs to all immediate host family members. All CCI Greenheart host families can receive the following off any Greenheart Travel program fee:
CCI Greenheart Host Families that host for less than one full semester:
- $100 discount only on GHT Short term programs (Volunteer, IHP, LS, LEH)
- $300 discount on HSAbroad programs
CCI Greenheart Host Families that host for one full semester or more:
- $200 discount only on GHT Short term programs (Volunteer, IHP, LS, LEH).
- $600 discount on HSAbroad programs
Note: Programs must start within 12 months of the last date the host family served as a host to a CCI Greenheart participant
