Short Term Programs Coordinator - Short Term English Language and Culture Department (STP)

Type: Full time
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri 9-5:30
Location: 712 N Wells St, 4th Fl, Chicago, IL

Position Summary:  

Within CCI Greenheart, the Short Term English Language and Culture Department (STP) works with teens and adults who come to the U.S. to improve their English and/or learn about U.S. culture for periods of 2 to 8 weeks. Our small team works with approximately 1000 students per year on the following inbound programs: Group Homestay, Independent Homestay, School to School Exchange and Summer English Academy. The program coordinator works primarily on the Group Homestay and Independent Homestay (IHP) Programs, communicating with both our international partner offices and our local coordinators throughout the U.S. As a small department we all chip in on all programs and duties. The right applicant is comfortable with a good deal of administrative work, in addition to creative problem solving and communication, particularly via email and phone. Good opportunities for advancement exist in the department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Hiring and training local coordinators for Independent Homestay and Group Homestay Programs, including setting up online trainings and webinars as well as providing one on one support via phone and email
  • Creating and updating local coordinator contracts and program materials • Monitoring IHP and assigned Group Homestay programs to ensure benchmarks are met; communicating via email, phone and/or Skype with local coordinators and program partners
  • Assistance with planning and arranging logistics for all programs, as assigned
  • Developing and updating handbooks and promotional materials
  • Data entry and assistance with database management including tracking host family and student applications and enrolling students in insurance
  • Creation and maintenance of program reports and spreadsheets
  • General program administration duties including assembly and mailing out of material packets, photocopying and scanning of materials, organization of evaluations, creation of budgets and calendars, administration of check requests and invoices
  • Assistance in development of new database
  • (Occasional) Writing and editing blog posts; assist with administration of social media pages and contests

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Dedication to cultural exchange, travel and/or passion for learning about other cultures
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills; ability work on several projects at once
  • Ability to independently manage projects and tasks while working within a small team
  • Data entry and data management skills (Salesforce experience a plus)
  • Outgoing, flexible personality with a willingness to learn; applicant should be a proactive, diligent, positive & creative self-starter; possess great work ethic
  • Comfortable using social media platforms and learning new programs and software
  • A genuine desire to contribute to an organization that promotes cultural exchange and environmental consciousness
  • Preferences: Ability to speak a second language and/or have experience living abroad; facility working with social media

Service Learning and Outreach Coordinator - Greenheart International

Type: Full time
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 40 hours per week, within business hours Mon-Fri 9-5:30

Position Summary: 

The Service Learning & Outreach Coordinator works with a variety of Greenheart participants to have meaningful service experiences during their programs and equips participants to be engaged volunteers. The service learning programs are offered through Greenheart International’s Greenheart Club. The Greenheart Club is a community that encourages people to volunteer by tracking volunteer hours online, connecting volunteers around the world, and providing grant funding for service projects.

Primary Duties: 

  • Collaborate with program managers of Greenheart’s branches and departments to implement service learning programs via the Greenheart Club and leadership trips
  • Co-develop service learning and Worldview Explorations content and resources
  • Create trainings and resources for participants and stakeholders to be successful volunteers
  • Lead and facilitate service learning programs for Greenheart participants
  • Recruit exchange students to participate in Greenheart Club Programs and Trips
  • Manage Greenheart Club International (greenheartclub.org) site development and maintenance
  • Implement Greenheart Club as tool for alumni to stay involved with Greenheart
  • Develop marketing materials and communications to participants and stakeholders in the Greenheart Club via print, web, social media, and email
  • Evaluate impact of service learning programs on participants for program improvement
  • Establish partnerships with likeminded service organizations domestically and internationally
  • Oversee part time program assistant
  • Program administration duties include communicating with participants and stakeholders, monitoring budgets, and logistics for programs and events
  • Direct Greenheart International’s community outreach program, Camp Greenheart. A one week residential summer camp for Chicago area youth ages 9-13.
  • Assist as needed in Greenheart International and Greenheart transforms’ Chicago events

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in Education or International Studies
  • Experience leading and or participating in service learning programs
  • Volunteer coordination experience
  • Social media savvy
  • Ability to effectively facilitate group activities and make experiential opportunities educational
  • Dynamic presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and work on several projects at once

Regional Director - Academic Year Program

Type: Full time salary employee
Hours: 40+ hours/week
Location: Nationwide, work from home

CCI Greenheart is seeking individuals with previous work experience as a Regional Manager, Director or similar level within a cultural exchange organization. 

The Center for Cultural Interchange (CCI) has J-1 designation by the U.S. Department of State to bring international high school students to the United States through our Academic Year Program, to live with volunteer host families. The Regional Director position is a crucial leadership position within the AYP department, by supervising a team of 20-50 Local Coordinators, and 75-100+ exchange students every year.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Build and supervise a team of Local Coordinators (independent contractors) to facilitate the placing of exchange students with volunteer host families, who will attend high school for a semester or full academic year.
  • Lead the regional team of field staff to ensure timely placement of all students assigned to the region, and that the proper documentation for the placement has been supplied through CCI’s database.
  • Create a development plan for the region, which includes a regional training meeting for LCs.
  • Maintain compliance with Department of State regulations by providing the necessary documentation via the database for all students placed in the region (proper host families, host family information forms and school permission forms, contact logs, etc)
  • Work closely with the staff in the Chicago office through regular email, phone, and skype communication.

Skills: 

  • Previous experience working with a cultural exchange organization
  • Ability to lead and guide a dispersed team
  • Self-motivated, creative and organized
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Part-time Program Assistant - Career Advancement Program

Type: part-time (hourly between 20-30 hrs/wk)

Within CCI Greenheart, the Career Advancement Program (CAP) Department has J-1 Internship and Trainee designations through the U.S. Department of State to bring international professionals to the United States on a cultural exchange program that allows them intern or train with a U.S. business. CCI Greenheart’s CAP program is dedicated to extending the mission of cultural understanding, environmental consciousness and world peace by connecting enthusiastic international professionals and American Host Organizations. As the only non-profit green J-1 visa sponsor, we pride ourselves on providing a quality experience, while encouraging and enabling CCI Greenheart staff, participants and Host Organizations to work together on projects that promote environmentalism and sustainability.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Filing

Regional Manager Position at CCI Greenheart - Academic Year Program

Location: Wisconsin - work from home

CCI Greenheart is seeking individuals with previous work experience as a, Area Coordinator, Regional Manager/Director or similar level within a cultural exchange organization. Applicants without prior experience in the industry will not be considered. (If that is the case, please consider CCI Greenheart’s independent contractor Local Coordinator position.)

Summer Group Coordinator - Short-term Groups and Homestay

ESL Student Recruiter - Summer English Academy

The Summer English Academy (SEA) is a unique, three week, summer ESL camp designed exclusively for teenagers, with locations in New York State and Northern California. Greenheart Transforms Social Media Intern

Type: Unpaid, internship
Reporting: Volunteer Intern reports to Tieg Alexander, Greenheart Transforms Coordinator, Greenheart Transforms
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: : Minimum 3 month commitment, at least one day a week in office (Monday or Friday) and two days a week from home. Each day will consist of a 3 hour block. Schedule is flexible.
Compensation: Unpaid, volunteer position

Purpose of the Internship 

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to help maintain our social media outlets, research topics for our newsletter, recruit local change-makers for interviews, and conduct research for future events.

Greenheart Transforms assists people in reaching their highest potential through events, workshops and retreats aimed at personal and social transformation.

Internship Description 

  • Leverage social media outlets (particularly Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) to strengthen relationships with past and potential event participants
  • Conduct marketing and logistic research for future events
  • Recruit local innovative leaders and change-makers for interviews or guest blogs
  • Draft compelling blogs, newsletters, and event resources to be distributed to past, present, and potential event participants
