Explore the French countryside by bicycle!  Burgundy's gently rolling green hills, peaceful canals and charming back roads make it the perfect destination for a biking tour. Explore quaint little villages and lush vineyards by day, and indulge in the fresh and delicious cuisine this part of France is known for by night. This "slow" travel tour is a relaxing, healthy way to enjoy all the Burgundy region has to offer. You'll sample fresh, organic foods and wines of the region, experience the natural beauty of the landscape while you learn about efforts to preserve it, all while minimizing your impact on the environment while you travel.

Program Highlights:

• Spend 7 days cycling along the beautiful Voie Verte ("Green Way"), an old railroad that has been converted to miles of breathtaking cycling paths through the French countryside
• Cycle through the beautiful Beaujolais wine region, stopping to learn about traditional wine-making techniques at a private estate
• Stay in quaintly rustic "gites," farm buildings that have been converted to clean, comfortable accommodation, most equipped with full kitchens and lounge areas.
• Enjoy the gastronomic delicacies of the region: Sample locally produced cheese at a goat farm, explore colorful farmer's markets and savor traditional regional meals made with fresh, local ingredients
• Take in spectacular panoramic views of sloping vineyards, lush forests of oak and maple, and vibrantly colorful fields of poppies and sunflowers
• Enjoy the services of an experienced and enthusiastic guide

Program Includes:

• Group accommodation in gites for 6 nights, with one night at a youth hostel. * Note: Single accommodation is not available. Accommodation is group accommodation in rooms of 2-6 beds.
• Full board, including picnic lunches and restaurant dinners made with delicious local and organic products

• Services of an expert cycling guide and tour assistant

Transportation and Travel Arrangements

Bike tour participants fly into Lyon, France and meet the rest of the group and crew at a designated meeting point that is provided.
