This country on the east coast of Africa has long been a favored travel destination, epitomizing every westerner’s fantasy of African adventure. It isn’t hard to understand why; dramatic scenery is almost commonplace here. Kenya’s landscape is graced with serene lines of acacia trees, virgin tropical rainforests, and some of the most stunning beaches on the Indian Ocean, while over 70 tribal groups call Kenya home.
Just about everyone speaks English, although Swahili is also an official language, and can be useful in some rural areas. The famed Maasai Mara National Reserve looks like it sprang from a child’s picture book of African wildlife: Cheetahs, leopards, hippos, lions, elephants and zebras all roam its arid plains.
Weather conditions are generally warm and pleasant year-round. April to June and October to November are rainy seasons with cooler temperatures.
