Community Farm Project
Project Details
This project is run by a community based non-governmental organization that is committed to serving the marginalized population of the rural poor. The over-reliance on crop farming tended to be an insufficient means of livelihood for the people of Yamah and as a result, there was severe hunger in the region. This prompted the immediate establishment of the NGO to show farmers in the district that they could obtain a more stable income and food security from livestock rearing rather than crop farming alone. Gradually, the emphasis has shifted from running a farm to engaging in more direct community education on a wider variety of topics including agriculture, health, sanitation, and income generating activities.
