Soup Kitchen and Food Distribution Center

Project DetailsSoup Kitchen

This soup kitchen provides about 80 homeless people with a warm lunch every day. In addition to this meal, the project also provides emotional support, legal assistance, and basic skills workshops.

Volunteers Responsibilities

Help is needed with the preparation and distribution of the meals, organizing and leading new workshops for groups of homeless, and engaging in community outreach efforts with assistance of project staff. Mom’s Kitchen provides volunteers with the wonderful opportunity to build relationships with the homeless community members through developing new friendships and providing positive support.

Location

The project is located in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires. All volunteers will be taken to their host family upon arrival and given an orientation within the first few days.

Accommodations and Meals

Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay.

**No meals are served on Sundays.

Requirements

Minimum commitment is 3 weeks. A desire to work with the homeless population is necessary. An intermediate level of Spanish is required. Spanish lessons are available prior to the volunteer project in Buenos Aires for an additional fee.
