Prisoner Reintegration Project
Project Details
This association fosters the social and professional reinsertion of ex-prisoners into society. This is achieved by promoting human dignity, family counseling, and skills training. The center offers workshops on social and technical skills as well as offers emotional support. One of the largest initiatives is to teach the ex-prisoners how to repair and operate PCs giving them the tools to then open their own businesses. All the computers that are fixed during the training sessions are then donated to needy schools around the city. The project also operates many programs inside prisons to help educate current inmates to start the reintegration process early.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers can work with the PC project including teaching the prisoners new computer programs. Help is also needed with public relations, organizing new workshops, teaching English to prisoners and helping the project secure more financial resources for further program development and support.
Location
The project is located in the Recoleta neighborhood in Buenos Aires City. All volunteers will be taken to their host family upon arrival and given an orientation within the first few days.
Accommodations and Meals
Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay.
**No meals are served on Sundays.
