Children’s Dental Clinic
Project Details
This dental clinic is part of a small international NGO located in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. It consists of two free clinics for children who live in the townships nearby. In Argentina, few children who live in severely impoverished neighborhoods enjoy dental care and as a result, their teeth are generally in very poor condition.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers will be working closely with clinic staff to help with everything from routine dental check-ups to more severe cases that need urgent treatment. The materials will be provided by the NGO but volunteers are needed to make sure the operation is running smoothly and the little patients are well attended.
Location
The dental clinic is located in San Martin, a suburb of Buenos Aires. All volunteers will be taken to their host family upon arrival and given an orientation within the first few days.
Accommodations and Meals
Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay.
**No meals are served on Sundays.
Requirements
Minimum commitment of 4 weeks. Volunteers must be trained dentists or advanced in their studies of dentistry and be comfortable working with children. An intermediate level of Spanish is required. Spanish lessons are available prior to the volunteer project in Buenos Aires for an additional fee.
