Project for At-Risk Teenage Girls
Project Details
This project aims at helping female teenagers and young adults by showing them how to re-integrate into Argentine society. All the girls who receive help here are young and find themselves in risky situations. The project offers workshops, homework support and emotional guidance so that these young women can feel secure and self-confident in themselves and their futures.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers can help in all areas including organizing workshops, recreational activities, homework assistance, and counseling. The most important thing a volunteer can provide is her friendship and guidance. It is important that the volunteers are open-minded and are aware that the situations the young women face are harsh realities and often very difficult.
Location
The project is located in the Las Flores neighborhood of Buenos Aires. All volunteers will be taken to their host family upon arrival and given an orientation within the first few days.
Accommodations and Meals
Volunteers will stay with carefully screened host families for the duration of the program. Two meals a day with your host family are included in your stay.
**No meals are served on Sundays.
Requirements
This project only accepts FEMALE volunteers. Minimum commitment is 4 weeks. Project does not operate during the months of December and January. Experience or education in counseling, teaching and/or childcare is helpful, but not required. An intermediate level of Spanish is required. Spanish lessons are available prior to the volunteer project in Buenos Aires for an additional fee.
