Intern and Trainee Participants

Business Management Intern or TraineeCCI’s Intern and Trainee Career Advancement Program (CAP) offers current university students and recent university graduates an exciting opportunity to gain experience in their occupational fields in the United States. Participants can select an intern program based in the fields of Hospitality and Tourism or Management/Business/Commerce/Finance. We offer two placement options: Full Program, where CCI will match qualified candidates with positions, and Self Placed, where candidates source their own internship or training program.

All Internship participants must have a Training Plan (DS-7002) before applying for the J-1 visa. To obtain the visa, participants will need:

  • DS-2019 form provided and completed by CCI.
  • DS-7002 form (Training/Internship Program Plan-T/IPP), which describes the content of the Internship program. This form is to be signed by the sponsor, host organization, and participant.
  • Standard U.S. visa application forms, a valid passport, and required photographs. All participants must pay the standard visa application and SEVIS fees and secure receipts. Participants should consult the website of the closest U.S. Consulate for details.

What Are the Requirements?

Hospitality and Tourism Intern or TraineeINTERN
The Intern program is for international university students who are either currently enrolled in university outside the United States or have graduated from university outside the United States no more than 12 months prior to his or her program start date. Participants must have excellent to fluent English skills. Program dates vary depending on the individual participant, up to 12 months. Positions 6 months, or less, are typically unpaid.

TRAINEE
The Trainee Program is for foreign individuals who have a degree or professional certificate from a post-secondary institution outside the United States and at least one year work experience in the related field – OR – that has at least 5 years of work experience outside of the United States in the occupational field in which they are seeking training. All participants must be fluent English in order to participate effectively in their Trainee Program. Program dates vary depending on the individual participant, from 4 to 18 months.
