Having grown up with exchange students in his home and having studied abroad, Emanuel Kuntzelman knew well the tremendous value of student exchange. Thus, he founded CCI in 1985 in cooperation with his parents. The program grew from 7 students that first year to close to 10,000 participants annually. In addition to overseeing the organization, Emanuel does extensive writing and public speaking on social transformation and spearheads CCI’s Greenheart Initiative.

Laura joined CCI in 1991 with the objective of creating an international presence for the organization and to broaden its program offerings. In 2007 she was named CEO by the Board of Directors, while continuing to serve as Vice President of the board. Her duties include overseeing and supporting CCI’s staff, establishing company policy and guiding its future direction. Additionally, she dedicates her time to spearheading environmental and social welfare projects for CCI’s Greenheart Initiative, while serving on the Executive Committee of the Board of Council on Standards for International and Educational Travel and working closely with the Alliance for International Educational and Cultural Exchange. In 2011, she was recognized as a Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women. Fluent in Spanish and competent in French, Laura is also an avid swimmer, hiker, snow skier and tennis player, and an active member of Women for Women International and Doctors Without Borders.

Board_RoseAnthony  Rose Anthony
Rose Anthony is President of Management Design, a San Francisco Bay Area-based business consulting firm specializing in the design industry. Ms. Anthony has 30 years of experience working with engineering, environmental, planning and architecture firms. Her areas of expertise are CEO and senior leader succession, ownership transition, strategic planning, and incentive compensation. Rose has gained a strong reputation for implementing effective programs for transitioning ownership and equity, including supporting corporate boards, executives, and decision-making bodies to ensure that programs are developed to meet the needs of all generations. She designs creative profit distribution and compensation approaches and also works with management to install leader and staff performance management and reward programs, compensation structures, and guidelines for communicating internal programs that embrace a company’s culture and support its strategic plan achievement. She has served for over 30 years as Director of the AIACC-endorsed Management Design Survey of California Architectural Firms.

Roy Curran has been a member of the Board of Directors since October 2006 and previously served as advisor to the board. Roy juggles duties as Executive Vice President, member of the Board of Directors of Oak Bank and its holding company in Chicago, Illinois as well as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of DuPage National Bank and its holding company in West Chicago. While serving as President of DuPage National Bank from 1990 to 2002, Roy served as a member of the Board of Directors of District 33 Foundation for Educational Excellence in West Chicago.

Dr. Peter Lueck has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1992. Pete recently retired as Superintendent of Schools in Lisle, Illinois and has more than 30 years of teaching and administrative experience encompassing every level of education from Kindergarten through college. He has been an active leader in the development of state level training workshops for principals and currently serves as a mentor to high school principals in San Diego, California and Phoenix, Arizona. Since 2002, Pete has also been a consultant for School Exec Connect assisting school districts throughout the Midwest in their executive searches.

Leslie has been a member of the Board of Directors since October 2003 and serves as Secretary. In September 2010, she joined the office of the Western Director of the Natural Resources Defense Council in San Francisco. Prior to that, Leslie was a senior manager at the San Francisco office of McKinsey &Company, the global consulting firm. Previous experience also includes Vice President and Research Manager of Secura Burnett LLC, an international search firm, and Director of Human Resources for Intermediary Insurance Services, Inc. After earning a Ph.D. at Cambridge, Leslie began her career as Senior Lecturer of History at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and subsequently served as Assistant Professor of History at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Leslie is a member of the Society of Human Resources Professional and the American Historical Association.

Rich has been a member of the Board of Directors since November 2005, and serves as Treasurer. His consulting business, Richard Zacaroli LLC, currently serves U.S. and international companies in both the private and non-profit sectors. Previously Rich was Vice President and General Manager of Recon/Optical, Inc., in Barrington, Illinois, and remained in that position following the company's acquisition by Goodrich, Corp., in 2008. Earlier, Rich was the company’s Director of Business Development for Europe and the Middle East, based in Rome, Italy. While living in Rome, Rich served on the Board of Directors of the American Overseas School of Rome for seven years, and served as its Chair for four years. He served as President of the Parish Council for St. Susanna Parish in Rome for seven years. Rich has also served on the Boards of Directors of the Barrington Area Community Foundation and the CAI Employees Credit Union, where he also served as its Chair and Treasurer. He is a member of Rotary International.
